Podcast Topic(s)

This episode began with the intention of capturing a number of thoughts on the perils and pitfalls of game development, as submitted by various members of the Ultima Dragons community. However, some initial discussion of the comments on this post at the Ultima Codex by Deathblade Dragon (a post made over six months ago, and which suddenly surged back to life) wound up derailing discussion for much of the rest of the episode. We still kept somewhat to the topic in general, but we ended up looking at it through the lenses of crowdfunding, managing fan expectations, and the progress that has been made on both Star Citizen and Shroud of the Avatar.

In Other News

No Man’s Sky’s Massive Day-One Update Makes Galaxies Ten Times Bigger, Adds a New Plot, and More - "Sean Murray, CEO of Hello Games and lead developer on the universe sandbox No Man's Sky, recently revealed what the game's day-one update would contain. The update predominantly focuses on adding a lot of new gameplay features, but it also balances item management and fixes bugs that were reported by a person who bought a leaked copy of the game." Also, the game doesn't support multiplayer, at least not in the traditional sense.

Elder Scrolls 6 Will Debut, But Not Anytime Soon - “However, a sixth game in this fantasy series is not yet in active development. Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines has spoken out and said the studio will likely make the game in due time. 'The Elder Scrolls VI isn’t in development,' Hines said on Twitter. 'We simply said we would make it eventually.' This past June, Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI was not in development, with Hines stating, 'We aren’t working on TES6 at the moment.'”

The Elder Scrolls Legends - Bethesda's Hearthstone-like take on The Elder Scrolls' lore is now in beta. And, evidently, is pretty good as such games go.
