Credit for this episode and its content is really due, and should be given entirely, to Cran Gallara, Enchantress Dragon, Boolean Dragon, Helgraf Dragon, Goldenflame Dragon, Dark Wraith Dragon, Draxenath, and Slashing Dragon. These fine people carried on a discussion about the Ultima Dragons 25th Anniversary Bash, which was held about a month ago in Disneyland, while Withstand the Fury was away from the mic tending to his wife.
This episode, in essence, is a big debrief session about the Bash, with different people giving their impressions of the experience, and the planning that went into it. At some point, though, the conversation also becomes about the Ultima Dragons in general, and what makes the club not only rather unique, but also gives it a particular staying power in the post-Ultima era.
Because we in the Dragons are about a more than Ultima; we are friends. We care about each other, and we care about each others' families. We wouldn't have lasted this long, especially so long after the publication of the last single-player Ultima title, if we were just a gaming group. And now, for many Dragons, there's a new challenge: to pass on Ultima — and the way in which the games are not only just engaging and stimulating to the imagination, but also the way in which they continue to be poignant social commentaries — to the next generation.
It may also interest Ultima fans to know that Cran and Enchantress (and perhaps others) are in the process of designing a solution — something for the Ultima Dragons to use — to the shortcomings of Facebook and other social media sites.
Also: if anyone has video of Lord British's fork being stolen, we desperately want to see that.
